Marking the gateway of Paddington Basin, The Point is a striking office building located in one of London’s most thriving hubs.
Designed by Sir Terry Farrell and completed in 2003, the elegant, modern design is inspired by a ship’s prow and follows the curvature of the historic Grand Union Canal directly adjacent. Vibrant and accessible, Paddington’s importance as a key commercial and residential district (in the northwest of London’s West End) continues to attract high profile and multi-national tenants. Since 2000, Paddington has undergone a transformation beyond recognition, with the bulk of activity taking place in Paddington Basin, right where The Point is situated, as well as Paddington Central. With further ambitious mixed-use developments spurring the area’s continued regeneration, Paddington’s allure and desirability will only be amplified.
Stone plinths and glazed curtain walls with glazed aluminum window systems comprise the façade, where the full-height glazing and a vast 10-story internal glass atrium allow natural light to flood the space. This also affords expansive views to Paddington Station just across the canal as well as to the West End, especially on the 7th floor tenant-only wraparound balcony. The interior provides 236,239 sq. ft (21,948 sq. m) of outstanding Grade A office accommodation, arranged over lower ground, ground, and nine upper floors. Typical floor plates of up to 23,000 sq. ft (2,137 sq. m) are easily divisible.
